Interview
Who is Laura More? Well, you've probably seen her before in a certain video - but now she has teamed up with Uniting Nations to release 'Ai No Corrida'. It was originally a hit for Quincy Jones, but don't let that spoil your party, because this is a thumping club hit.

So, she's got a single out and she knows how to work a frenzy up amongst men, let's see what she has to say...
Hey Laura, how are you?
I'm alright!

So where abouts are you at the moment?
Oh I'm just out and about really, shopping, got a few things to do, busy promoting the single, done a few gigs, had one in Cardiff, which was good. I'm a hard working girl so its OK.

I guess you have a busy busy schedule then, how have you found the whole promoting thing that comes with releasing a single?
Err, not too bad actually, it's fun - I enjoy it - a lot of early starts, but I'm a morning girl really.
So you don't find it tiring and have hurting feet by the end of the day then?
No I'm just enjoying it really, it's great fun.

So how long have you been singing for, or is this just the beginning?
No actually, I've been singing for a while, I have my own studio and that at home and I'm well known within the industry. I heard a sample for 'Ai No Corrida' and thought it would make a good track and then obviously the guys at Uniting Nations 'worked their magic!' and so, yeah, that's how that came about.
Do you think that with the help of Uniting Nations, one of 2005's biggest dance acts you could launch a successful solo career, much in the same way Craig David did with the Artful Dodger back in 1999?
Hopefully, I've got some stuff in the pipeline - I can't talk about that though - but hopefully some big things will happen, although Craig David has obviously done very well - who knows!

So is dance music your cup of tea or could you see yourself doing other genres?
Well I do love my house and dance, but yes, I'd like to do other genres, some of the stuff planned for next year will have an 80s vibe to it, some more poppy stuff too.

So tell me, 'Ai No Corrida', what does it actually mean?
It means 'The Realm of the Senses', it is based on this Japanese art house movie, I haven't seen it though - but I've read the book! Very sordid!

Is it something we should look out for?
Erm...yeah...if you're bored! [laughs]

A line in the song goes 'You send me there, your dream is my command', if you could have a dream come true, what would it be?
Hmm... [thinks] a dream come true - a number one single.

The video for the single sees you take to the boxing ring, what was it like making the video?
Oh it was excellent, have you seen it?
Yes.
I think it's brilliant the way it's come out, those guys are actually world champions, that was hard work, very tired at the end of the day on that one!
Of course, no stranger to the music video channels though are you?
Oh really? [laughs]

I'm thinking Eric Prydz here, I guess shooting that video was different?
Yes - well I've got bills to pay, so I went along to the audition, we never realised it was going to be such a big hit, normally you have an act and the dancers don't get a look in, but on this it was different. And I'm now known as towel girl!
Laura: Have you seen it?
Erm, no, I think I may just have missed that one...

Laura: What do the boys think?
Oh I think they liked it.

Laura: If you look, when they actually pull back and you can see me I'm actually in hysterics, it was great fun.

As you say, some lovely stuff with a towel - what do you think your parents would say if they saw it?
They are cool about it - I'm really close to my Mum, she knows what I do, she's cool with it - it's all choreographed - I didn't ad-lib that towel stuff!

OK Laura, quick fire time now - X or Y style...
Oh I'm not very good at these!

Cats or Dogs?
Cats
Cosey night in on the sofa or wild night out?
Oooohhh, Wild night out I think!

Pepsi or Coca Cola?
Hmm, Pepsi Max, yeah Pepsi Max. (Good choice!)

Summer or Winter?
Summer, definately.
Here is one for the Radio 4 listeners - Tea or Coffee?
[laughs] Well I don't actually drink tea or coffee so...

Burger King or McDonalds or Patrice's Salad Bar?
Well I'm sorry but I'm gonna disappoint here - a salad bar I think, I can't do McDonalds or anything like that.

Charming romantic or Mr Stud Muffin?
[laughs] Oh charming romantic, definately.

Well thanks for sparing the time to talk to us, much appriciated, and best of luck with the single!
Thank you! Bye!
