V Festival Results In Hundreds Of Weather-Related Injuries
Article published: Tue, 19 August 2008 00:52:58AM

Ambulance crews dealt with hundreds of weather-related injuries at one of V Festival's site at the weekend.

They were kept "exceptionally busy" treating revellers at the music festival's Staffordshire leg, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

A total of 671 people received medical treatment between the opening of the camp sites at Weston Park on Thursday and 11am today.

Of these, 23 people needed hospital treatment.

Steve Wheaton, of the West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "The heavy rain over the weekend has made conditions very difficult.

"The slippery conditions meant many of the incidents dealt with were slips, trips and falls, though there were also reports of staff dealing with bee stings, blisters and people who had forgotten medication."
