The Police Officially The World's Highest Paid Music Stars
Article published: Thu, 25 September 2008 00:43:58AM
British rockers The Police are officially the world's highest paid music stars, beating Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Madonna.
The Every Breath You Take trio - made up of Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland - proved that big money is made on the road and not in the recording studio as they banked 115 million dollars last year from their reunion tour, according to Forbes.com.
Forbes.com's Lacey Rose said: "The late 70s rock band, famous for not getting along, sold 200 million dollars worth of tickets and played to over four million fans."
Sting beat Beyonce and the SexyBack star by a huge margin, who banked 80 million dollars and 44 million dollars respectively.
The former Destiny's Child singer made most of her earnings from her tour and her endorsement deals, including those with L'Oreal and American Express.
Justin's tour, Super Bowl commercial, MTV deal and heading his own music label jumpstarted his earnings, which gave him the edge over the Queen of Pop, who earned 40 million dollars from her deal with concert promoter Live Nation and endorsements with H&M and Sunsilk.
