The Charlatans - Forever The Singles
Released November 6th.
The Charlatans are one of the UK’s most influential and significant bands over the past 15 years, and are now celebrating their long and illustrious history with ‘Forever. The Singles’, a unique album and DVD chronicling the band’s story from 1990 to the present day.
‘Forever. The Singles’ compiles together The Charlatans’ recordings from three different music labels; Beggars Banquet, Island Records and Sanctuary, for the first time. The album’s release comes ten years after the death of the band’s original keyboard player, Rob Collins.
This release supplies a prelude to The Charlatans’ 15-date UK tour, which kicks off on Thursday 23rd November and continues through to Sunday 10th December.
The album itself provides a collection of some of the greatest 'The Charlatans' singles ever released, beginning with 'Indian Rope' - first released in 1990. As you move through the tracks, musical masterpieces are undoubtably noticeable. One of The Charlatans more recent tracks, 'Blackened Blue Eyes' (2004) is my personal favourite from the entire album due to its clever lyrics and genuine good feel and sound.
Despite the fact that I am not personally a great fan of The Charlatans, this album provides a reason to make me one. Lyrically excellent, the sound of rock provided on this album is unique to The Charlatans themselves. Unlike alot of rock bands, who only offer screaming and deafening guitar noises, The Charlatans provide a much more chilled version of rock.
