Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia
Jesus christ it's a long track.

Fresh off their tour and gigs and what-not Green Day are getting ready for the release of their fifth, count 'em, single from their album 'American Idiot'.

'Jesus of Suburbia' is a beefy five-part rock out track, quite a lengthy one too, at 9 minutes and 10 seconds it is no 3 minute 30 second pop wonder-track.

Each part morphs perfectly into the next, each part matching the last with its ever relying trust in that all important instrument, the guitar.

Of course a 9 minute plus track is hardly radio friendly so they've cut it down to 6 minutes and 30 seconds for the radio edit, still a long track by any stretch of the radio air wave.

Despite it's length the track never dies old due to the change in sound and style, something that is achieved here with tremendous effect.

The singles market is a tough nut to crack in a world where something like the Crazy Frog and Mr Blobby can reach #1 this is a brave move by Green Day to release a track that is not bound to the rules and formula of a typical chart track.

3/5.

'Jesus of Suburbia' is released November 7th.
