Sirens - Love Hurts
WRONG! Love doesn't hurt, losing something/one you love hurts.

Given the advent of the Pussycat Dolls and their chav-happy approach to things and their success in the charts it seems that the path has been cleared for an invaison of R&B/Urban girl groups.

It doesn't take Stephen Fry to work out that if you find a winning formula - you stick to it, so Kitchenware Records have done just that, or at least replicate it, and at least on face value. Sirens are an R&B girl group and the similarities to the Pussycat Dolls are very apparent.

First off the font used for the Sirens' logo is identical to the text on the Pussycat Dolls album - ok, a font is a font, not like there are many to choose from, but as with the Pussycat Dolls, Sirens track, 'Love Hurts' features a rapper - albeit a dead one and their songs both are very real and direct.

Cosmetic issues aside it's down to what counts, the music. 'Love Hurts' features O.D.B, and sounds a bit like All Saints got really really cheesed off and were let loose in the studio.

These are four girls with attitude. From Newscastle. Can't have it all I suppose.

'Love Hurts' has a perfect mix of grit and charm, the over-riding harp-sound again echoing a likeness to All Saints' sound.

O.D.B.'s addition to the track is rather bizarre, it doesn't seem to play a key part to the song, nor is there a need for his words, telling us he is 'dropping the single for us', it doesn't really fit with the theme of the song and doesn't flow as well as the girls strong vocal performance.

Remixes to look out for come from Dodge, a megamix of different genres blended into one whilst Wookie provides a deep and hard house sound. Love to Infinity and Partners In Rhyme mixes will also appear on the single with 'Build a Bridge' as a B side.

3/5.

'Love Hurts' is released November 14th.
