Stereo MCs - Set It Off
Don't push the button. Released January 23rd.
'Set It Off' is the 'return' of the Stereo MCs, taken from the album 'Paradise' and delivers a perfect slice of urban-funk with a 90s feel.
With Cath Coffey's vocals breezing in and out this tracks only downfall is that it seems to end too soon, that and it sounds a bit like 'Connected'.
Nevertheless the way in which the vocals lay on top of each other is slick and works very well.
On the remix front we get photocopier noises from Cavemen, which takes the track to a darker urban level with jungle elements thrown in for good measure, a faster-paced remix from Deekline & Wizard, offering 'Set It Off' in a sort of mix of dance/industrial/electronic way.
