The Streets - Never Went to Church
Released June 5th.
Mike Skinner's emotive second single from his third studio album 'The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living' tells a sorry tale of how soon after the released of the second album his father passed away, leaving Mike in a distraught state.
At its core 'Never Went to Church' is much akin to 'Dry Your Eyes', the slow track on the album, the one to pay attention to.
In a show of how Mike's skills continue to develop, where 'Dry Your Eyes' failed to capture pure emotion 'Never Went to Church' delivers - perhaps down to its subject matter.
An unusual choice for single, but worthy nevertheless.
